The Humble Brush And Toothpaste Review
September 21st, 2017 | 2 minutes to read
Brushes made of bamboo are no strangers to me when I was young and living in China. But gradually plastic stuff started to replace those natural items in everyday life. They come in different colors, are more durable and cheap. However, they also come with a price to pay for our environment. I’m glad in recently years there has been an ongoing trend to replace some plastic items with natural materials again, such as Humble Brush, an eco-friendly tooth brush made of bamboo.
Materials:
The Humble Brush handle is made out of 100% biodegradable bamboo which naturally provides a non-slip surface. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth. It is naturally antibacterial which means that there is no need to use fertilizers or pesticides during its cultivation. This makes bamboo a very eco-friendly material.
The bristles are made with Nylon 6 free from the toxin BPA (Bisphenol A) which degrades faster than lower grades of nylon. Nylon 6 is a material ideally suited for dentistry and can be processsed through regular waste channels. The bristles are varied by thickness to provide options for Soft (adult) and Ultra-soft (kids).
VEGAN. NATURAL.
Application:
Brush your teeth at least twice a day, once in the morning and once before you go to bed. Change every three months.
User Experience:
I normally use kids toothbrush since I am a petite. The bristles feel very soft and the handle is easy to grab. Although it’s slightly thicker and wider than the toothbrush I used to use, so at the beginning it felt slightly too big for me. I got more used to it after some days of use. I personally wish it could be 1mm thinner, and 1mm narrower on the sides. Other than that I’m very happy with the product. Honey tested the adult version and he felt the same with me. Since bamboo handle are more straight and stiff, it could feel a bit crowded in your mouth if you don’t have big room.
Package:
All the packages are made of recyclable paper instead of the hard cardboard and plastic you normally associate with other toothbrushes.
The Natural Toothpaste is a new product from The Humble Brush. The texture is white, soft and not very abrasive. The formula and flavor are both quite mild, and it does brush the teeth clean and gives you a fresh breath. I think once you keep your oral environment clean, you generally don’t need super strong flavored products to make it “fresh”. That's just artificial. I like the natural approach of the toothpaste. The size is very travel-friendly, and I will be excited to take it with me for my big trip next month. 😉
Where to buy:
It’s available on their website and also in many supermarkets around Sweden. If you don’t live in Sweden, try checking your local or online eco-friendly supermarket or health store.
